I joined a birding group just over a year ago. I have been fortunate to be able to go on a few trips where Jacques was our brilliant guide. He has a good ear and pick up a bird sound that we didn't even hear yet. Before our outings he would ask what our target birds for the day would be and he goes out of his way to find them ! I can definitely recommend Jacques, for a fun day trip out looking and learning all about birds and the amazing nature around us. Looking forward to our next trip!

Exceptional bird guide. I enjoyed the 2 days of birding with him very much. His knowledge is on another level. will recommend him for a birding trip to anybody. We organised a day outing with Jacques up to Velddrift and we had quite a few target species. You can’t beat local knowledge. He knew just where to stop on the farm roads, had obviously built up great relationships with the farmers ( as we were allowed onto a private farm to see three specific birds) and was great on his calls. On the day we saw 103 different species and managed 9 lifers for most of us. The sightings we had of the lifers were excellent and not just far away glimpses.

I have used Jacques on numerous occasions as a guide. Besides his friendly and supporting personality he knows the birds. He knows their sounds, their habitat and habits and shares that information with his group to expand our knowledge as well. I will highly recommend Jacques as a birding guide.

I have been on birding with Jacques Giliomee for nearly 2 years: many day outings, weekends and a couple longer trips. He is a wonderful bird guide, very knowledgeable and also enthusiastic. He knows a host of different spots to find many bird species and almost always gets the target birds. He is also very patient and helpful with relative novices, allowing plenty of time to get good observations and photos.

Jacques certainly knows his stuff and I refer to him as a bird whisperer. Almost every target bird he sets out to get is achieved which has certainly boosted my life list. A great guide indeed.

I have attended numerous birding outings over the last year or so in and around the Western Cape which Jacques has hosted. His vast knowledge of local resident, endemic, near endemic and migrant species is refreshing. Always friendly and courteous. Very patient with newbies and freely imparts his knowledge regarding the particular species in question. Definitely aware of all the target species hotspots required and makes sure that the bird is seen before the day is out. Will be attending one of the forthcoming Kruger Park trips with Jacques.

I was a novice birder from UK visiting Cape Town in early 2023. Jacques took me on a private tour up the West Coast. We saw scores of birds, most of them new to me. Jacques was so knowledgeable and gave lots of background information about the birds we saw. It was a long day but he remained cheerful and friendly throughout.
